ToolsFuad urges NWRHA workers: Take the 9%health Minister Dr Fuad Khan yesterday urged upset daily rated workers at the North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) to accept the proffered nine per cent wage increase. Khan, speaking with reporters after the launch of the Mental Health Awareness Campaign at Crowne Plaza yesterday, said National Union of Government and Federated Workers (NUGFW) head Senator James Lambert asked him to step into the negotiations after several workers walked off the job last Friday. "Other daily paid workers have settled for nine per cent," Khan said, adding that he already spoke with his Permanent Secretary to get a meeting with the Chief Personnel Officer (CPO), Stephanie Lewis. "I am trying to fast forward that nine per cent, I am just asking that the CPO and the Permanent Secretary can get together and deal with that problem, because it has been ongoing," he said. "I could just recommend that they do the negotiations fast, but I can't really push them," he said. "People have been settling for nine per cent," he said. —RS |
