JENELLE Griffith, the girl with a secret Facebook account who disappeared on her 13th birthday, was still missing yesterday, six days after leaving her Iere Village, Princes Town home last Tuesday, to go to High Street, San Fernando to purchase stationery items for school.
She never came back and an extensive search by her mother, Nicole Cyrus, has proven futile.
Cyrus’s brother, Marlon Baptiste, said his sister suffers with high blood pressure and her daughter’s disappearance has caused the family nothing but “torture and grief”.
Baptiste said the family discovered that Griffith had a Facebook account and it was a Facebook friend who contacted the family over the weekend to say that the girl would be home on Sunday.
However, she did not turn up.
It is believed that Griffith is in Sangre Grande.
Baptiste said his niece lived with him in Princes Town and knew little about travelling far distances.
He said he was hopeful that the girl would return soon and, if she was being held against her will, her abductors would release her.
