He was a real family man, says son

GODFREY LAMONT was a family man. He would have done anything, and did everything for his family, his son Keigan Forde said.

Forde yesterday delivered his father's eulogy at a funeral service held at St Crispin's Anglican Church, Alberto Street, Woodbrook. The eulogy was entitled "An appreciation of the life of Godfrey Lamont".

"Daddy was a serious family man. He encapsulated the essence of what is a meant by family first. He loved and received love in return from his family, so much so that when I conducted my enquiries to do this eulogy everyone had the same refrain and stressed that daddy was a family man.

"Despite his busy and often ridiculous schedule, he always found time for family," Forde said.

Lamont was killed on January 18 around 12.15 p.m. along Calcutta Street, St James, as he got out of a car outside his business place, Sterling Financial Centre.

Lamont was fatally shot three days before he would have celebrated his 53rd birthday. His family yesterday gathered to say a final good-bye.

Lamont was an insurance salesman who worked with Colonial Life and Guardian Life.

"In my father, I saw the core values of hard work, consistency, passion, persistence and perseverance," Forde said.

Reverend Lyris Bailey yesterday delivered the homily at Lamont's funeral service.

Bailey urged the male members of the congregation to follow in Lamont's footsteps and to put family first.

Lamont was laid to rest at the Mucurapo Cemetery.
