A MEDICAL doctor employed at the Sangre Grande District Hospital was killed instantly yesterday morning after his car crashed into a vehicle belonging to a female police officer in Valencia.

Up to yesterday evening the officer, WPC Amanda McNayo, remained warded at hospital in a stable condition.

Dr Andre Thomas, 33, of Union Village, Sangre Grande, was one of two people to be killed in separate accidents between Sunday evening and yesterday in Valencia and San Raphael.

Investigators said at around 5.45 a.m., Thomas was driving his car east along the Eastern Main Road, when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into McNayo's car which was travelling in the opposite direction.

Another driver who attempted to avoid colliding with the two vehicles, spun out of control before slamming into Thomas' car, said investigators. They said the driver of that car escaped without injury.

In the other incident, police said 41-year-old Alan Madoo, who lived at Carapo, was riding his motorcycle along Tumpuna Road, close to the San Raphael junction when he lost control of the bike and crashed.

He too died at the scene.

The deaths have now pushed the country's road fatality figure for the year to 165 according to an Express count.
