Grieving parents expect autopsy today

Falling gate crushes boy

THE parents of little Anthony Ali who died on Tuesday spent Christmas Day in tears grieving for the loss of their son.
The seven-year-old who lived at Bonasse Village, Cedros, was pronounced dead at the Point Fortin District Hospital, one day after he was admitted.
According to police reports, the boy was playing at his home on Monday when a steel gate toppled around 10 a.m. crushing him.
Police said the gate was not attached, but leaning against a wall, when it fell, crushing the boy’s head. They said the child’s parents were at home at the time and they took him to hospital.
Councillor for Cedros, Ramesh Sewnal, told the Express Ali’s parents were inconsolable.
He visited the family twice since the tragedy happened.
Sewnal said all family members were very upset and unable to speak with anyone much, including him. He said he would have paid them another visit yesterday.
An autopsy is expected to be conducted today.
