Guard in court for illegal gun, ammo
SECURITY guard John Hazel yesterday appeared in the Rio Claro Magistrates' Court, charged with the possession of an unlicensed gun and ammunition.
Hazel was arrested last Saturday by police, who found him in a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the groin.
Hazel, 33, of Lopinot, hobbled into court, with the aid of a pair of crutches, after being discharged from the San Fernando General Hospital on Monday.
Hazel, who is employed with Amalgamated Security Services Ltd, appeared before Senior Magistrate Maria Busby Earle-Caddle.
He was remanded in prison custody until tomorrow, while police conduct a criminal background check.
