Gun, ganja, ammo found - couple arrested on home in Chaguanas

A gun, ammunition, and more than $.5 million worth in marijuana, were seized by police during a raid on a house in Chaguanas on Monday.

Police arrested two persons during the exercise.

According to police, at around noon, a party of officers led by Senior Superintendent Johnny Abraham, Sergeants Benjamin and Job, and including Constables Khan and Hosein, went to a house at Caroni Savannah Road and executed a search warrant.

On the property the police allegedly found five packages of marijuana wrapped on plastic and weighing approximately 12 kilogrammes. Police said they also seized a Ruger pistol, with 13 rounds of nine millimetre ammunition.

A 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.
