Gunman burnt in arson attack

By Jensen LaVende

SOMEWHERE in this twin island republic, there is a thief with burns about the body he suffered after he burnt down the home of his victim, a 21-year-old mother of one.

According to police reports, Stacy Maharaj was asleep with her three-year-old son at her Lady Young Road, Morvant home around 12.45 a.m. yesterday while two masked men entered her home and announced a hold up.

One of the two bandits placed a gun at Maharaj's head and demanded cash and other valuables, while the other began pouring a flammable liquid throughout the house. The men told Maharaj to take her son and flee before setting the house ablaze.

One of the two men's clothing caught afire and he was seen trying to out the flames as he exited the house.

Police believe that the bandit suffered severe burns and all health facilities are asked to be on the lookout. Up to press time the bandits were still at large.
