Hero: I just wanted to save this man
Ganesh Bansraj, the man who jumped into the Guayamare River to rescue Rolly Bhawansingh last Friday, said he expected no reward for his actions.
And he insisted that he would risk his life again to save another person.
“It is no big deal. I just wanted to save this man. This is someone’s life we talking about. I couldn’t stand by and watch him go down,” he said yesterday.
Bansraj, 28, lives five houses away from the river. “I heard the crash and I walk down the road to see. When I reach I saw this car in the river and the man inside. I looked around and no one was doing anything. I just jump in and tried to get him out,” he said.
Bansraj was assisted by his cousin, Shiv.
“His mother came and visited us and said thank you for what we did. I appreciate that very much, but we just wanted to save him. We tried to revive him until the ambulance arrived. I am just happy that he is okay,” he said yesterday.
