By Gyasi Gonzales

PRESIDENT of the Police Social and Welfare Association, Sgt Anand Ramesar said yesterday that he hoped newly appointed National Security Minister Jack Warner will review some of the shortcomings of the 21st Century Policing Initiative.

Ramesar spoke to the Sunday Express via telephone yesterday during which he congratulated Warner on his appointment.

He said: "We have high expectations of him and we expect that the level of energy he had at the Ministry of Works will be brought to the National Security Ministry.

"We hope to meet with him early to review our issues," said Ramesar. "We intend to look at the bigger picture and we intend to support all of his strategies and policies and efforts to improve the level of security to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago."

Ramesar added, "We will remain focused on our duty to reduce crime and the fear of crime and we are wishing Warner all the best because we know that the National Security portfolio is a challenging one."
