Hikers find body

HIKERS from a church stumbled upon the body of a man near a waterfall in Trinidad's Central Range yesterday morning.

The person was tied at the hands and feet and there was a gunshot wound to the head.

Police said the man was brown skinned, five foot six inches and weighed approximately 110 pounds.

He also had several tattoos about his body including the word Shaiam on the right calf and a sea horse on the left calf.

The body also had a dragon on the abdomen, two stars on the right arm and, another tattoo on the left arm.

The man police said is believed to be approximately 25 years old, and has a short beard.

The body was clad in a black striped jersey and grey pants.

Officers were called to the scene at Corosal Road, Gran Couva early yesterday.

The discovery was made by a 16-year-old girl who was leading the hikers to the Camalita Waterfall. The body was about 250 feet off the road along the trail to the waterfall.

The group, members of the Believers in Christ Assembly Hiking Group in Gasparillo, consisted of about 20 people including teenagers and adults.

Acting Sergeant Prince and Acting Corporal Lalbeharry are investigating.
