ToolsHinds writes Ag CoPOPPOSITION Senator Fitzgerald Hinds has written to recently appointed acting Commissioner of Police Stephen Williams requesting an update on the investigations involving Minister of National Security Jack Warner. Last month, the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) found that Warner had US$1 million at his CONCACAF office, which he used as "gifts" for Caribbean Football Union (CFU) heads in the lead-up to the FIFA presidential elections at the Hyatt Regency hotel on May 10 last year. The incident triggered an investigation by FIFA and local authorities later into Warner's involvement. Hinds, in a two-page letter, said the information brought forth by CAS is "fresh information" that could propel the investigation. Hinds suggested the Comptroller of Customs assist in the investigations, and the last information he (Hinds) received about the status of the investigation was that a file was sent to the DPP, who reported the information was "threadbare" and was eager to know what is the latest with the investigations. |
