A DOMESTIC argument between a 27-year-old woman and a relative at their home may have been the reason the relative set the house on fire, causing slight injuries to the woman, police have said.
Police reports are that around 9.30 a.m. last Saturday, Camille Gittens, 27, got into an argument with the relative at their home at Warden Road, Point Fortin.
The man went outside, leaving Gittens inside the house and set the house on fire using gasoline.
He then fled the scene.
Neighbours assisted Gittens in getting out of the house. Officers from the Point Fortin Fire Station extinguished the fire which had already gutted the house.
Losses were estimated at approximately $50,000.
Gittens, a mother of three, was treated and discharged from the Point Fortin Hospital.
Gitten's children are spending their school vacation at another relative's home and were not in the house when it was set on fire.
Point Fortin police are investigating.
