Homeless man killed in hit-and-run

A HOMELESS man was struck down and killed by a speeding car while trying to cross the Eastern Main Road near the Tunapuna Police Station yesterday.

The driver never stopped the vehicle.

According to police reports, around 2.30 a.m. yesterday Andrew Griffith was crossing the Eastern Main Road a stone’s throw away from the Tunapuna Police Station when he was struck by a speeding vehicle.
Griffith died on the spot.

Police officers have now launched a manhunt for the driver of the vehicle.
Video footage from Closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) located near the police station are to be reviewed in order to identify the killer vehicle and its driver.

The 2013 toll for road deaths now stands at 154.
