The semi-nude body of a woman was found in some bushes in Chickland, central Trinidad, yesterday.
The decomposing corpse was identified as 54-year-old May Guyapersad, a housewife of Freeport.
Police said the mother of three was discovered by a man hunting a wild animal around 12.35 a.m.
The woman was wearing a pair of jeans and a brown top.
Her underwear was found nearby. Police said there were bruises on her face.
Relatives said Guyapersad travelled to Chickland on Wednesday morning to visit a friend.
Investigators were told the woman was seen drinking with her friend at a bar in Chickland. Guyapersad reportedly fell as she was leaving the bar and injured her head.
Police were told she stayed the night at her friend’s house and left the following day in a taxi to Freeport.
The body was removed to the Forensic Science Centre in St James where an autopsy will be performed on Monday.
