‘ILP’ man in court today
PROSPECTIVE local government candidate for the Morvant area under the Independent Liberal Party (ILP) Kerwin Bucchan will appear before a Chaguanas magistrate today after being hit with seven gun-related charges.
The 38-year-old, of Coconut Drive in Morvant, was charged with possession of arms and ammunition, possession of the two to endanger life, and three charges of shooting with intent to endanger life.
Bucchan was allegedly held with a semi-automatic pistol and several rounds of ammunition. According to a police report, officers from the North Eastern Division Task Force, led by Inspector Roger Alexander, received a tip-off that a man in a white panel van which was proceeding along Lady Young Road, Morvant, was in possession of an illegal firearm, following a shooting incident in the Central Division. The man allegedly shot at a woman before fleeing.
The van was stopped and searched and a Beretta pistol with five rounds of ammunition were reportedly found.
