Ian Alleyne, United National Congress (UNC) candidate in the St Joseph by-election, said he intends to deal with the issues of crime and flooding in the constituency even before the November 4 election.
Alleyne was speaking to the media yesterday following a ceremony at La Joya Complex, St Joseph, where certificates of comfort (COC) were given out to more than 100 persons by the Land Settlement Agency (LSA) of the Ministry of Land and Marine Resources.
Alleyne said he has already hit the ground, meeting the people and hearing their concerns.
He said he has also spoken with ministers about delivering to the people of St Joseph, such as ensuring joint army and police patrols in various parts of the constituency and addressing the issue of flooding.
“I am coming to make sure I deliver,” he said, adding that he did not want to make promises but show that he can be efficient.
“I am not going to chain up the people of St Joseph, chain up the people of Aranjuez, let us come together day and night and deliver. It is not about politics, it is about delivering.
“Don’t vote for Ian Alleyne, vote for me only when I deliver,” he continued.
Questioned on whether he had a UNC party card, Alleyne responded: “Do I need a party card to deliver, do I need a party card to represent the people? Did Volney need a party, and what he did, nothing,”
Alleyne said he has been “on the scene” just a couple of days and already things were happening.
Asked whether his Crime Watch show will return after the St Joseph by-election, Alleyne said: “My show will go on, I don’t need a studio to show that I am a performer, I am a performer with or without a television station...of course, come the 4th or the 5th my show will go on, win or lose, I know allyuh excited to see it and I know you all will miss it, but I’ll be back.”
