‘Ice Cream’ beaten to death: cops seek ID

POLICE were up to last night seeking the public’s assistance in the positive identification of a man believed to be in his 40s, who was found dead under a bridge along the Eastern Main Road in St Joseph yesterday morning.
The man had a large, gaping wound to the side of his head, and police believe he had been beaten and left to die.
Police said the discovery was made at 11.30 a.m. while four boys were fishing in the St Joseph River and saw the body below the bridge.
Officers from the St Joseph Police Station then went to the scene where the body of the Indo-Trinidadian man was found. He was clad only in a pair of blue boxer shorts.
Police believe the man may have been a homeless person known to some residents as “Ice Cream”.
Anyone with information about the victim is asked to contact the St Joseph Police Station at 662-2522.
