Illegal vendors arrested

Several street vendors were arrested in San Fernando on Friday.
The vendors were charged with illegal vending and their goods seized.
The clothing and CD vendors were detained by the San Fernando city police during an exercise along High Street.
They will appear before a San Fernando magistrate today.
In recent months, San Fernando Mayor Kazim Hosein has called for the city police to clear the main shopping area of illegal street vendors.
And vendors operating at the Central Market in San Fernando have also asked that police clamp down on cart vendors.
The market vendors complained that persons continue to sell vegetables out of carts along High Street, causing customers to stay away from the market.
