Jack Warner is driven by malice and hate and cares not for the people but is focused on bringing down the People’s Partnership Government, says Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
Speaking at a United National Congress (UNC) public meeting at Pepper Sauce Junction, Chaguanas on Monday night, Persad-Bissessar reiterated that voting for Warner’s Independent Liberal Party (ILP) will cause a division in the votes at the local government elections and the People’s National Movement (PNM) will benefit.
She said both Warner and Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley shared her as a common enemy and Warner was motivated to get revenge for what he perceived was his removal from her Government.
“The ILP’s founding mandate is to destroy the People’s Partnership that was built, endorsed, elected and put to serve by over 400,000 people of this country,” said Persad-Bissessar.
“No one man is going to cause votes to be split, and in so doing deliver a lifeline for the PNM to return to any kind of political authority, that they abused for so many years,” she added.
She said Warner’s return to the Parliament as the MP for Chaguanas West was not an open invitation for him to destroy the Government.
Persad-Bissessar urged the people to use their votes to remind Warner of this.
“It is an opportunity to remind the ILP leader that just because he was returned as a Member of Parliament, it does not give him the freedom to empower the PNM...to take away what you have struggled for over such a long time,” she said.
“When your drains start backing up, your recreation grounds become overgrown and your representatives treat your calls for action with contempt, because the ILP delivered the PNM back to local government influence, do you think the ILP Leader will care about what you have to say?” she asked.
