2012 Chutney Soca Monarch, Kris “KI” Persad, is presently in China representing Trinidad and Tobago at China’s 9th International Folk Art Festival.
The lead vocalist of the band JMC 3Veni is there with former Digicel Rising Star champion, Neval Chatelal, who also performs with 3Veni. The two artistes are there through a government-to-government exchange programme under the Ministry of Arts and Multiculturalism.
“I am spending the majority of my time travelling to different parts of China doing about seven performances. I should be spending four days in Beijing and will be back home on September 27 with great stories to tell.
I may even do a Chinese version of “Friends For The Night,” Persad said.
Following their return from China, Persad, Chatelal, Nishard M and the rest of the 3Veni team will be looking forward to opening for American R&B artiste R Kelly in Guyana, before they head to Florida for the Miami Carnival.
The band will also be heading into the studio to record songs for Carnival 2014.
