Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar will deliver the feature address today at the handing-over of the recently completed San Fernando Teaching Hospital.
She will also commission the Chancery Lane Administrative Complex, San Fernando which encompasses the facility. The ceremony begins at 3 p.m. and the Prime Minister will cut the ribbon which will link the old San Fernando General Hospital to the new 18-floor complex.
A news release yesterday from the Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago (UDeCOTT) said chairman Jerlean John will lead a tour of the hospital wing.
Construction retrofitting the facility began in April 2012. The extension to the hospital will increase bed capacity at San Fernando General Hospital by 216 beds.
The state-of-the-art facility is intended for maternal, childcare and paediatric outpatients. Functional diagnostics, administration and teaching services will also be hosted at the Chancery Lane facility. Other government ministers will be attending, the release said.
