Kamla visits ailing sister in New York

...McLeod acts as PM

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar was scheduled to leave for New York last night to spend time with her ailing sister.

Labour Minister Errol McLeod will act as Prime Minister in Persad-Bissessar absence.

A release from the Office of the Prime Minister yesterday stated that Persad-Bissessar’s visit was private.

“Mrs Persad-Bissessar is making this visit to be at the bedside of her eldest sister Sally, who has encountered a serious medical situation and is in hospital requiring surgery. The Honourable Prime Minister is taking the time off on compassionate grounds to be close to her family at a time of great need,” stated the release.
