Kamla: Spare no resources

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has advised Health Minister Dr Fuad Khan to ensure former prime minister Patrick Manning is well taken care of during his stay at the San Fernando General Hospital.

In an official release from the Office of the Prime Minister, Persad-Bissessar said: "I extend heartfelt concern for former prime minister Patrick Manning and join with the nation in prayer for his speedy and full recovery.

"I have advised the Minister of Heath to make available to our former prime minister every resource necessary that may be required to ensure Mr Manning is well looked after."

Political leader of the Congress of the People (COP) Prakash Ramadhar also extended get-well wishes to Manning and called on others in public life to guard their health well.

"Our solemn prayers go out to former prime minister Patrick Manning, Member of Parliament for San Fernando East, and hope he recovers fully from his latest medical challenge.

"Mr Manning is one of our nation's most experienced parliamentarians who has served his constituents and country with great determination and sacrifice," he said.

THA Chief Secretary Orville London also wished Manning well.

"On behalf of the Tobago House of Assembly and the people of Tobago, I would like to join the rest of the country in extending best wishes to former prime minister and former political leader of the People's National Movement Mr Patrick Manning, wishing him a very speedy recovery from his present ailment.

"Mr Manning has had a number of serious challenges in the past and has always been able to recover to a state of normalcy, and we really hope that that will be the situation this time.

"We are aware of his courage, his mental and physical and spiritual courage and we hope that with the grace of God he would be able to recover very swiftly and be able to continue to be of service to his country and the region," he said.
