Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar yesterday wrote to US President Barack Obama congratulating him on his re-election and affirming this country's commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties.
"On behalf of the Government and People of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and on my own behalf, I wish to extend to you heartfelt congratulations on your re-election on November 6, 2012 to the presidency of the Untied States of America," stated Persad-Bissessar.
On the night of Obama's victory, Persad-Bissessar had said that he earned his re-election as he remained grounded in politics of hope and delivery to the people.
Persad-Bissessar pointed out that this year Trinidad and Tobago celebrated its 50th anniversary of Independence on August 31, 2012 and this momentous occasion also coincided with the establishment of diplomatic relations between this country and the United States.
"Please accept, Mr President my sincere wishes for the success of your administration, for the personal well being of yourself and your family and for the peace and prosperity of the United States of America," the letter concluded.
