Machel Montano, the Soca Monarch who now shares the 2013 title with Austin "SuperBlue" Lyons, says he believes the race for the Road March honours is a close one.

In interview with TV6 News aired last night, Montano, who now holds the Road March title, conceded he would like to win it again by defeating SuperBlue's "Fantastic Friday" with his song, "Float".

"I wish by some miracle it could happen but the fight is on. I went up to the Savannah for a lil bit and it's one Machel, one Super, two Super, one Machel. I really not there to count Road March and think about all that, this is really the people's part of the competition, you know, this is what the people choose and you really can't dictate that," Montano said.

He said, however, there was a setback with his song "Float" with regard to the Road March race because the mas band he was in, Fantasy, did not cross the stage on Carnival Tuesday.

"I think the biggest issue is that people having to line up for so many hours. We came out at 6.30 this morning. We didn't move, not even 11 o' clock, 12 o' clock. So we had to come for lunch. There's a certain part, we couldn't even play music by the hospital so it is a lot of long-standing, and I think now it's hard for a masquerader to pay to play and have to stay," Montano said.

TV6 also got Montano's thoughts on the results of the Soca Monarch finals.

Many of his fans believe Montano won the competition outright.

Many of SuperBlue's fans believe he won.

Montano said his goal "was to always to go out there and execute my best and I think I was flawless".

"You know, I came down and land on that platform at zero seconds and take a lil celebrate and you know it was great. As I say again, the SuperBlue story is great but just look at it, the song is a good song and you can't deny this thing and it is an honour for me, a true honest honour to share the (Soca Monarch) title with SuperBlue. I am not about greed," Montano said.
