Man, 21, shot dead near Maloney home

A newspaper salesman was shot and killed in Maloney on Saturday night. Police said just after 10 o’clock, 21-year-old Jamel Norray, of Swallow Lane, Gull Terrace, was standing on the roadway close to his home, when two men approached him.

Eyewitnesses reported they heard several loud explosions and saw the men running away. They later found Norray lying in a pool of blood. Relatives and neighbours rushed him to Arima Health Facility but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Hospital officials said Norray had been shot several times.
Inspector Siewdass is conducting investigations.
This death brings the murder toll for the year to date to 278.
