By Carolyn Kissoon

A 32-year-old man was shot dead outside his home in Pleasantville on New Year’s Eve.
Kevin Haneiph, a crane operator, was washing his car outside Building 5, Pleasantville Terrace, when a car pulled up shortly before 5 p.m.
Police said two men walked up to Haneiph and fired several shots, hitting him twice in the chest. Haneiph died at the scene.
Investigators believe that his killers suspected that Haneiph may have given information to police which led to a drug bust in he area. Police said Haneiph began receiving death threats on Saturday.
Neighbours said Haneiph was a kind-hearted man who was always ready to assist.
His mother, Kathleen Douglas, said her son bought a ticket for her to return home for the Christmas holidays. She lives in the United States.
Haneiph’s body was removed to the Forensic Science Centre in St James, where an autopsy would be performed today.
Police interviewed several persons in connection with the murder, but up to last evening no one was arrested.
