OFFICERS of the Northern Division Task Force yesterday arrested a 23 year old unemployed man with a loaded Smith and Wesson .40 calibre handgun with 13 rounds of .40 ammunition a short distance away from the Morvant Police Station.
The man from Plover Street, Morvant is expected to go to court on Monday as officers intend to have him placed on several identification parades throughout the weekend.
According to police around 2.30 p.m on yesterday a team of police officers from led by Sergeant Cornelius Samuel and Cpl Richard Forbes, were on patrol along Plover Street in Morvant, when they observed the suspect, who was sitting on a concrete wall. The officers searched him and found the loaded firearm in his waist.
The officers continued enquiries, and went to the home of the suspect, where they executed a search warrant and found a quantity of ammunition in his bedroom.
