A 46-year-old man was chopped on the head and stabbed multiple times during a fight with a male relative on Saturday evening.
Narine Sankar, of Pointe-a-Pierre Road, San Fernando, was
found dead near his home around 5.30 p.m. Police said he was heard arguing with a man before he began screaming for help.
Police found Sankar lying near his home in a pool of blood. He suffered chop wounds to the head and stabbed in the chest.
A bloodied cutlass and a switchblade were recovered at the scene.
Police said a 49-year-old male relative was detained in connection with Sankar’s death.
Investigators said Sankar was known to police and had appeared
in the San Fernando Magistrates Court on larceny charges.
Relatives said Sankar lived alone and did odd jobs in the community.
The murder toll now stands at 258 for the year, according to an Express tally.
