Man injured in midday shooting

...Gunman captured

IN front of shocked passersby, a Laventille man was shot around midday yesterday along lower Henry Street, Port of Spain.

Minutes later, police arrested the gunman higher up Henry Street while he was attempting to escape with gun in hand.

Police said around noon, the victim, Prince Olatungi Denbow, 27, was walking along Henry Street when, near Rattans clothing and apparel store, a gunman walked up to him and shot him twice.

The shooter then ran off.

The police were called to the scene and they found Denbow sitting on the pavement. They took him to Port of Spain General Hospital where he was treated.

Police radioed their colleagues and within minutes other officers on patrol arrested the suspect after passersby were able to give them a clear description of what the man looked like.

He was taken to Central Police Station where he was being questioned up to last night.

CPS officers are continuing investigations.
