Man killed by cops identified

 A man who was shot dead by police in Claxton Bay on Thursday, after he attempted to stab a police officer, was identified yes­terday.

The deceased was identified by relatives as Malcolm Thomas, 29, of Union Road, Claxton Bay. 

Thomas was killed by offi­cers of the Southern Division Task Force while they were on patrol in St Margaret’s Village.

Police said at around 10 a.m., Thomas was seen acting suspiciously and ran when they confronted him.

Police said when they caught up to him, he pulled out a knife and attempted to stab one of them. 

An officer shot at Thomas and he was taken to San Fernando General Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.
