A STAB to the heart ended the life of Petrotrin employee Garvin Alexis early yesterday.
Alexis, 28, of Erin Road, Santa Flora, was stabbed to death during a brawl at a nightclub in Penal.
An autopsy performed yesterday by Dr Hughvon Des Vignes at Forensic Science Centre, St James, found that Alexis suffered two stab wounds to his chest, one of which punctured his heart.
According to police, Alexis was liming outside Club J’s in Batchyia Village when he was involved in an argument with a group of patrons.
Eyewitnesses said Alexis began to struggle with one of the men and was stabbed.
He collapsed and died at the scene.
A 21-year-old suspect, of Latchoos Road, Penal, ran away.
Police said hours after his death, two men and a woman went to San Fernando Police Station to report the incident. They were interviewed by detectives yesterday.
The 21-year-old suspect was detained by police.
Relatives said Alexis was a kindhearted man who loved life.
“He loved to spend time with his son and nieces and enjoyed making people laugh. He would be missed by everyone who knew him,” said a female relative.
