A 23-year-old man was killed on Thursday night while attempting to cross Wendy Fitzwilliam Boulevard in Diego Martin.
According to police reports, around 9. 20 p.m., Jeron Emmanuel, of St Lucian Road, Diego Martin was crossing the boulevard from north to south when, upon reaching the extreme left lane of the west-bound lane, he was hit by a blue Toyota Corolla motor vehicle.
Emmanuel’s body, police said, was thrown about 20 feet from the scene of impact onto the roadway.
The driver of the vehicle stopped and attempted to render assistance. The police and emergency health services were also notified. However, police said Emmanuel died at the scene.
A party of Western Division police officers, including ASP Patterson, Insp Dan, Sgt Vincent, Sgt Perry, Cpl Richards and Cpl Linton, visited the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, who police said was a 26-year-old man from Diamond Vale, Diego Martin, was asked to submit to a breathalyser test, which he reportedly passed.
An autopsy is expected to be conducted on Monday. Cpl Richards is continuing the investigations.
