Man shot and killed by cops

A Carapichaima man who shot a police officer was killed this morning. The deceased, who police said was not yet identified, was pronounced dead at hospital.

According to police, at around midnight Tuesday a man was shot in Lion Drive, Orangefield Road, Carapichaima. Police officers of the Central Division Task Force led by Superintendent Johnny Abaraham responded and set up road blocks in the area in search of the suspect.

While searching an apartment building, officers were confronted by gunfire, and PC Rambarran was shot in his left hand, the Express was told. Police officers returned fire and a man was shot.

He was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility where he died.
The wounded police officer was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he is being treated.
The deceased's body was taken to the Forensic Science Centre, St James for an autopsy pending identification.
