HOMICIDE officers are investigating the death of an Arouca man who was shot and killed outside his home on Thursday night.
The body of 32-year-old Robert Marine was not removed from the crime scene until almost hours after the incident, officers told the Express.
According to police reports, residents of Albert Street said at around 11.30 p.m. on Thursday, they heard several loud explosions in the area but did not venture outdoors to investigate.
It was only around 6 a.m., a young boy, one of Marine’s neighbours, discovered his body lying along the southern side of his (Marine’s) house.
Police said they believed Marine was shot dead at the time when residents reported hearing the volley of shots.
Officers from the Homicide Bureau, crime scene investigators and officers at the Arouca Police Station went to the scene and carried out enquiries.
His body was removed from the scene some four hours after it was found.
Officers said Marine was known to them as he previously had several run-ins with the law. They have since classified his killing as drug-related.
His death has carried the murder toll for the year to date to 272, according to an Express tally.
Homicide detectives are continuing investigations into Marine’s killing.
