Man shot in PoS dies at hospital

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 27-year-old man who was shot in Port of Spain on Saturday night.
According to police reports, at about 9.30 p.m. a party of officers from the Central Police Station were on mobile patrol along Independence Square North when, upon reaching the vicinity of the demolished Salvatori Building, they were approached by a man who was clutching his chest.
The man, police said, had blood on his hands and appeared to have been bleeding from an injury to his back.
The wounded man gave the police certain information and he was then rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he was treated.
Unfortunately, the wounded man succumbed to his injuries at about 8 p.m. yesterday.
The man told police that he was Kamalah Edwards, 27, from Picton Road, Laventille.
However, up to press time sources could not indicate whether this identity had been verified.
Investigations are continuing.
