Man wounded in attempted robbery

Bandit escapes in waiting car

 A 23-year-old Cunupia man was shot during an attempted robbery near his home on Monday. 

Christopher Dookie, of Laltoo Trace, is warded in stable condition at hospital. 

According to a police report, around 8.30 p.m. Dookie was walking with a friend at King Sultan Avenue when they were approached by a man whom he knows. 

Police were told the man pointed a firearm at them, and announced a hold-up. 

Dookie and his friend tried to run, and the gunman fired several shots at them. 

Dookie was hit in the back. 

The gunman escaped in a waiting vehicle. 

Officers of the Cunupia Police Station were contacted, and Dookie was taken to the Chaguanas Health Centre. 

He was transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mount Hope.
