A 53-YEAR-OLD Fyzabad contractor drowned in a pond near his home on Saturday.
Melvin Glasglow, of New City, had been liming and drinking with a friend shortly before the incident, police said.
Anderson Paul, 48, of Delhi Road, called Fyzabad Police Station at around 2.15 p.m. and informed them that Glasglow was floating in a pond off Gheerahoo Branch Road. Acting Sergeants Ramsingh and Ablacksingh and other police officers visited the scene.
District medical officer Dr Carmona viewed the body and ordered its removal to the San Fernando General Hospital mortuary pending a post-mortem today.
Paul told police that he and Glasglow went to the pond around 10 a.m. that day and were drinking alcohol and liming.
According to Paul, Glasglow told him he was going to take a bath and he (Paul) walked away.
He returned around 2 p.m. and found Glasglow floating face down in the pond. Constable Chaitan is investigating.
