Man shot in St Joseph cemetery

A LAVENTILLE man was shot in St Joseph on Monday night as he walked through a graveyard, taking a short cut to his friend's home.

Police said that around 10.20 p.m., Kleon Phillips, 21, of Boxhill Trace, Laventille, was walking through El Chorro Cemetery, located off Market Street, St Joseph, when he heard several gunshots.

Phillips then ran out the cemetery and on to Market Street and was heading towards St Joseph Police Station when he collapsed along the pavement suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest and left hand.
