A 28-year-old man who managed to elude police capture for over five years was held by a contingent of police officers during a raid on Saturday night.
The suspect, wanted for a string of offences which include several murders in the Port of Spain, Western and Eastern districts, along with firearm and narcotics offences was held in an apartment located in Trincity.
Police say the suspect has several pending matters before the courts and several warrants were issued for his non-appearence.
According to police reports, at around 6.45 p.m, a team of detectives led by Snr Supt John Martinez of the Criminal Intelligence Unit and including ASP Radcliff Boxhill and Insp Emrol Bruce along with Cpl Darryl La Pierre of the North Eastern Division Task Force and officers of the Northern Division Task Force raided a house located on Beaulieu Drive.
The suspect, sources say, was renting an apartment from the sister of a well-known criminal element. However, at the time of the raid the woman was not home.
Sources further say, a female employed with the Ministry of Education, who was also in the house,was taken into custody.
