Manning hands out Govt hampers

By Susan Mohammed susan.mohammed@trinidadexpress.com

FORMER PRIME Minister Patrick Manning accepted hampers from the Ministry of the People and Social Development and distributed them at his constituency office yesterday.

Manning told the recipients of the hampers, who are from the San Fernando East constituency of which he is

Member of Parliament, that he was grateful for their support and the hampers were a small token of appreciation to them.

One hundred hampers were distributed at the San Fernando East constituency office at Coffee Street, San Fernando.

Manning was a no-show at a ceremony to observe the 50th anniversary of bicameralism held at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) at Port of Spain on Monday night.

He was one of several persons honoured, including former Prime minister Basdeo Panday, and former presidents ANR Robinson and Noor Hassanali.

Asked yesterday if Manning would say why he did not turn up at the ceremony, his San Fernando East protocol officer Wendy Lewis said he would not be answering questions on that topic.
