Former prime minister Patrick Manning's medical condition continues to improve since he was admitted to hospital on Monday night.
A press release was expected to be sent from Manning's San Fernando East constituency office yesterday, but the Sunday Express was told that no update will be officially given until tomorrow because there was "nothing major" with respect to his condition.
Wendy Lewis, the constituency's protocol officer, said, "He has not changed much; he is the same way."
Manning suffered a "mild" stroke last Monday and was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital.
Prayer meetings were held regularly at his constituency office during the past week for his speedy recovery.
Manning's wife, Hazel, said he sat up for the first time on Thursday and asked the doctors to go home. He asked about the nation's development and wanted to know what was happening to him.
He was assured that he was on the road to recovery and is expected to be back on his feet in three to six months' time. Doctors were unable to say when he would be allowed to go home.
Over the past few days, Manning has had several visitors, including his friend Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines Dr Ralph Gonsalves.
The Sunday Express was told that neurosurgeon Dr Krishna Maharaj was added to the team of medical doctors who are taking care of the former prime minister's medical needs.
