Mechanic in court for teen's murder

MECHANIC Calvin Greenidge appeared in the Couva Magistrates' Court yesterday charged with the murder of teenager Dion Atkins.

Atkins, 16, of Couva, was shot dead on September 12 while riding his bicycle.

Yesterday, Greenidge, 22, faced Magistrate Gail Gonzales, who read the murder charge laid by Constable Mark Phillips.

Greenidge was also charged with shooting with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to Ken Alexander.

The accused, who was represented by attorney Owen Kerr, was remanded in prison custody, to reappear in court on December 14.
