THE last place senior counsel Dana Seetahal was before she was assassinated was her “home away from home”, Ma Pau Members Club, where she would play the various slot machines.
Around 12.05 a.m. yesterday, Seetahal, was shot dead inside her Volkswagen SUV while proceeding north along Hamilton Holder Street, Woodbrook, when two vehicles pulled alongside forcing her to stop.
Seetahal left Ma Pau, at the corner of French Street and Ariapita Avenue, minutes before she was gunned down.
“The members, management and staff of Ma Pau Members Club are devastated by the death of our friend and member, SC Dana Seetahal,” a release stated.
Ma Pau said Seetahal had a relationship with the establishment for more than a decade and said safety for all its members is ensured.
“Dana has been our friend, member and attorney for the past 13 years. Ma Pau has been an extended family to Dana and she a part of the Ma Pau family,” the release added.
“As a home away from home, Ma Pau provides a safe environment for all of our members, as well as high-profile members such as Dana,” it stated.
Ma Pau stated it contacted the police once it was realised Seetahal was killed.
“Immediately upon hearing of the tragedy, Ma Pau management contacted St James police and informed them that Dana had been in the club and left at 11.55 p.m.,” the release stated.
“Our prayers and deepest sympathy go out to Dana’s family,” it concluded.
