Met Office: Tropical depression no threat

 AT 5 p.m. yesterday, Tropical Depression #Two formed east of the Lesser Antilles and although this storm is of no immediate threat to Trinidad, Tobago and Grenada, the general public is advised to monitor the movement of the system.

The Meteorological Office stressed this is not a tropical storm threat, watch or warning.

According to the Met Office, “The centre of this system is located near Latitude 11.6 North and Longitude 43.8 West or about 1,935 km east of the Lesser Antilles.”

It said that the system is moving towards the west at 26 km/hour and this general direction and motion is expected to continue during the next 48 hours.

“Maximum sustained winds are near 55 km/hour with higher gusts...little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours and the depression is expected to weaken to a remnant low pressure by Thursday,” said the Met Office.
