Missing girl, 12, found in Valencia

TWELVE-YEAR-OLD Shanika Daniel, who was reported in yesterday's Express as missing, was found unharmed in Valencia.

In a brief telephone interview with the Express, Daniel's mother, Germaine Claverie, said her daughter was found yesterday morning in company with her friend in Valencia.

Daniel was reported missing by Claverie, who, in her missing person's report, said shortly before Daniel went missing she was seen speaking with another girl in the area. But the other girl's family, as far as she was aware, had not made any report to police.

The duo were last seen around 10.30 p.m. on Boxing Day in Tunapuna, where they live.

Claverie said her daughter was well and appeared to be unharmed when the Express contacted her around 4 p.m.

Police are investigating the matter.
