Moruga businessman robbed of over $40,000

Police are searching for two men, who painted their faces with white paint, and robbed a businessman on Sunday night.

Harrilal Kissoondhan, a scrap dealer, was entering his home at St Mary's Village, Moruga, when two men accosted him around 10.15 p.m. Police said the intruders were armed with a cutlass and gun.

Kissoondhan, 50, was forced into his house and robbed of TT$27,000, US$800 and jewelry worth $10,000.

Investigations are also continuing into a robbery at a beach in Moruga on Sunday afternoon.

Police said a family was having lunch at La Ruffin beach when two men approached at around 1.30 p.m. Police said seven people were robbed of personal items including cash, jewels and cellphones.

The men escaped in nearby bushes. —CK
