Morvant man stabbed to death

...Women shot in Malick

By Gyasi Gonzales

A MAN was found stabbed to death in Morvant, while a woman was shot in the Malick, Barataria area between 9.20 and 11.30 p.m. on Thursday.

The discovery of the body occurred first when, around 9.10 p.m., the Morvant police were contacted and told that a man had been found dead in the Trinity Avenue, Morvant area, near an Angostura-owned facility.

A team of officers from the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) drove over to where the caller described and found the body of a dark-skinned, Afro-Trinidadian male who appeared to be in his early 30s.

Officers contacted the area's District Medical Officer who ordered the body's removal to the Port of Spain Mortuary.

Morvant CID officers along with detectives of the Homicide Bureau are continuing investigations.

Two hours later, the other incident occurred.

Police said around 11.30 p.m. Ayanna Granger and her boyfriend were walking towards her Malick, Barataria, home but when they got to the front of her house they found a masked gunman waiting there.

The man looked at Granger and fired two shots at her.

The 19-year-old woman was hit in her thigh and lower left leg.

The gunman then ran off as Granger's family rushed her to Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mount Hope, where she was treated.

She remained at the hospital up to press time last night.

Police were unable to say why she got shot.
