Morvant taxi man slain

A MORVANT taxi-driver was found shot dead inside his car on Tuesday night.

Dead is 35-year-old Ronald Chase of Paradise Heights in Morvant.

Around 8.40 p.m. on Tuesday, residents of Cipriani Street in Morvant heard several gunshots, police reports stated yesterday.

Chase was found slumped over the steering wheel of his silver coloured Lancer motorcar registration number HBN 777.

Chase's car was found on Cipriani Street, Morvant in the vicinity of the Russell Latapy Secondary School.

He appeared to have gunshot wounds about the body.

Officers of the Morvant Police Station and the Homicide Bureau visited the scene.

District medical Officer Dr Peter Bhagan also visited the scene and ordered the removal of Chase's body.

No motive has been established for Chase's killing as yet.

Meanwhile in an unrelated killing Arima police were called out to investigate the shooting death of a man at Righteous Lane, Pinto Road yesterday. The shooting occurred at 4.30 p.m. Police were unable to identify the victim last night.

His death has pushed this year's murder toll to 248, four more than the comparative figure for last year.
